Improved Targeting of Tumors

Improved Targeting of Tumors

What if we could target no other tissue except the tumor? Endovascular delivery of radiation or chemotherapy has become an important treatment option for certain types of cancers.

Bio

Endovascular delivery of radiation or chemotherapy has become an important treatment option for certain types of cancers.

This targeted method helps ensure that more of the treatment is delivered to the tumor leaving nearby, healthy tissue relatively unharmed. This image-guided, minimally-invasive technique allows patients to go home on the same day as their treatment procedure and reduces or eliminates many of the systemic side effects. Our practice is currently enrolling in two oncology registry studies examining the endovascular treatment of cancer, one in the liver and the other in the pancreas. Our practice was the first to perform this type of procedure — patients from across the nation have sought this progressive treatment from our practice, and continue to do so because of our expertise.

For more information regarding our participation in the studies examining the endovascular treatment of cancer, please contact Alicia Drew, Director, Research and Physician Services at Radiology Imaging Associates.
